So you got the iPhone and want to make it stand out from the rest of the pack. There are cool covers out there to make it slightly more unique, but what’s cooler than a custom paint job?! Check out Colorware’s service. They’ll paint your iphone in any combo of colors (including a matching dock) Pretty cool and if you already justified the $400 price tag on the phone to yourself…..you can easily convince yourself of a $150 paint job for your phone.

XM – Sirius Merger Info from CEO Hugh Panero himself
Posted by Author under Interesting, Music, TechieLeave a Comment
Happy Friday everyone. In the mail last night I got a letter from Mr. Panero himself…..well I think the 13million total subscribers to XM and/or Sirius also got one, but ya know it was the thought that counts. Anyway I attached it below but it basically describes that your service won’t be interupted, that they “plan” to make both sets of programming available via your current radio with no obligation to purchase a new radio. We’ll see if all these promises and claims hold true. Either way it’s pretty exciting and good for the satellite radio world. No more wishing you had Sirius to listen to NFL or wishing you had XM to hear MLB!

Being a client of Omniture, I got an invite to a launch event for their new segmenting tool Discover 2.0 (D2)
It was held at 4 Times Square Plaza, inside the NASDAQ building. Josh James, the companies CEO and co-founder had some words and highlighted that this tools capabilities stemmed from user requests. I will say the tool is very impressive in it’s capabilities and also impressive in its visual display of the data.
I won’t get into the quirks that happened during one of the demos by their head of Best Practices, he was a great sport in light of numerous technical difficulties (mostly with the supplied a/v equipment and not Omnitures software) At one point he threw up his hands and said, “Are we taping this? I hope we are!”
Some beta testers of D2 were there to highlight their usage and experiences with it. They were the Sr. Online Marketing Analyst from Scripps Networks(Food Network, HGTV, DIY etc) and I believe the Online Marketing Director of Overstock. Both highlighted different functions of the tool as Scripps are media/content based sites where Overstock is a commerce site.
Following the presentations there was a short reception and several workstations set up for you to get further demos by Omniture techs.
Aside from the technology it was a good networking opportunity and ran into a few companies representatives I’d recently interviewed with, so some good face time.
UPDATE: Forgot the biggest news, Josh went more into their acquisition of Touch Clarity and the found of TC spoke as a new member of the Omniture family. Web analytics down to the user level, with automated email/promotional distribution to those defined segments! huge value added to Omniture suite and is what every company who’s been using web analytics for more than….6months, realizes their data capture tool can’t do but really want.

Ok there is a Microsoft launch event for Vista going on outside the bldg I work in on 11th Ave and 27th St in NYC. It is a bit weird to be honest. We’ve watched them construct a metal scaffold atop the bldg next to ours for the past week and now we know what it was for. Microsoft has put 10 or so people in skin tight jump suits and attached them to ropes off the side of a bldg… They are dangling horizontal to the bldg face and are holding up a Microsoft logo flag. There’s dramatic thumping music and a modest crowd watching. The general criticism is why choose 11th Ave and 27th St to hold a launch event. There’s not much down here but old warehouses and art galleries. Oh well, something entertaining on a Monday morning.

Well they finally, officially announced the new iPhone from Apple at the keynote speech at MacWorld yesterday. Check out the full video if you want-Keynote Speech
I personally think it is an unbelievable device and at least 1o steps ahead of the competition. The biggest stand out to me is the screen and the Multi-touch capabilities of it. Truly like nothing out there and shows real promise for the world of touch screens and the eventual elimination of the stupid scroll wheel of Blackberry and Stylus of the Palm.
Also to point out is that it fully supports OS X instead of a scaled down version of other operationg systems, so that is really cool and hopefully means syncing is a snap and that the performance of the numerous features is smooth like on your Mac.
They highlight the iPod feature in the video but it’s pretty self explanatory and has capacities of the Nano’s. Plenty big and again way more space than competitors.
Overall, you can be the judge and try to justify the $500-$600 price tags. I still keep my internet usage limited to my laptop and already have an iPod, so don’t see myself shelling out the dough, even though it’s a really cool toy.
